Los Angeles based trumpeter/composer/arranger Chris Lawrence began playing the trumpet at age 11 in his hometown of Muskegon, MI. In 2011, Lawrence was selected as one of five finalists to the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Solo Competition, the most prestigious competition for jazz trumpeters in the world. Chris has had the good fortune of performing and or studying with Fred Hersch, Kenny Wheeler, Ralph Alessi, Marcus Belgrave, The Temptations, Phil Ranelin, Adrián Terrazas-González (The Mars Volta, T.R.A.M.), Artyom Manukyan (Zawinul Syndicate), Slide Hampton, Claire Fischer, The Grand Rapids Symphony, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Linda Rondstadt, Aaron Neville, and appears on the soundtrack to the feature film, Graffito (Soft Cage Films). In 2016, Chris was cast in the official music videos for Tina Campbell's "Speak the Word" featuring Teddy Campbell, and Rufus Wainwright's "A Woman's Face."

As an educator, Chris has served on faculty at Hope College, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and The Aquinas College Summer Jazz Camp.
